The Nursery - Special Needs
The Nursery welcomes children with Special Needs as it is well documented that early intervention produces the best outcome for both the child and family.
The Nursery caters for children from the age of 1 until they are accepted to the next stage of their education, which is normally 3 -4 years. However in the case of Special Needs children these ages are more flexible, as it may be a more “ability” appropriate environment for the child.
The Special Needs staff will develop a programme, with parents co-operation and assistance, that will be tailored to the specific needs of your child. If necessary other professional advice is available to the Centre. The Nursery will use the Portage model where it is deemed appropriate This, or the chosen programme, will be carefully monitored and regularly re-assessed to ensure the child maximises progress at all stages and in all areas of their development.
The staff are dependent upon the support and on going co-operation of parents in order to have accurate and regularly updated information about the child. Daily contact with the Nursery staff is encouraged as this enables a working relationship and support network for both the child and family.
Please ask for an
appointment with Verity to discuss your child.

Children with special needs often make only small amounts of progress at a time - but for them the achievement is often immense. It is so good to share this joy with people who understand.

I am really happy to leave Sarah here. She gets all the help she needs and has already started talking, something we never dared to hope for. |
